Justice - Cross
Justice, a french electro duet, debuted their first album 'Cross' in the late 00's. It was part of a movement broadly titles nu-rave / blog house. It celebrated a cross over of rock, pop and electro, mixed with an 80's ascthetic.
The album cover was a stylised cross. The band were quick to point out that it didn't particularly link to Christianity,however the titles of some of the songs on the album, such as Genesis and Waters of Nazareth, would suggest different. The design is powerful. It was created by So Me, an inspiration designer who has produced many fine pieces for Ed Banger, Justice's record label.
On the inside cover of the album, the design is taken further by the suggestion that the cross could be transformed into a rocket. The suggestion that what is usually a 2D shape, a cross, could be turned into a 3D shape, and angled in such a powerful way, is truly inspirational.
